## How to read these records

### The record

Anyone doing business in Seattle holds a business license tax certificate. The City publishes the active ones, with the legal name, the trade name, the NAICS activity and the start date.

### Status

Active business license tax certificate. “Active” is the City's status on the file date; it is not proof the business still operates.

### What is not here

Individuals, and any name without a company word (Inc, LLC, Corp, Co…). Owner and contact names, phone numbers
and mailing addresses, which this site never downloads.
